I met Steve when Keith and I came to the city in1981. Steve, Alex and I were servers at Spring St Bar & Grill & became great friends. Keith sublet Steve's studio aka 'The Clubhouse" on East 5th Street for awhile. Steve first dubbed Keith "Mr. Keith" -- a moniker that stayed with Keith his whole life. We had our first Thanksgiving in NYC with Steve and Alex when Keith and I didn't have 2 nickels.. When we finished eating, Steve took the turkey out to the homeless in the East Village.
